Forthcoming reply to Dance

On July 1st of this year, George Dance published a reply to come comments I posted on an article of his from last year. I’m not sure when I’ll have a reply to his reply, but it seems important to acknowledge his reply immediately.

Going over Dance’s piece, I can see several places where short points he has made may require longer rebuttals — so I’m doubtful I can put out a really comprehensive response right now. Right off the bat, though, let me address the following:

Nozick’s Anarchy, State, and Utopia most likely is the most cited work by opponents of libertarianism [as I observed -- Brad] — but I’d venture that is only because (based on my own anecdotal evidence) it is the most cited work on libertarianism, period.

Of course, we already know that the hard-core libertarian position is a minority position, facing huge numbers of “court intellectuals” and related types that vastly outnumber us. That Nozick’s work serves the ends of authority is no reflection on how authoritative his arguments are.
