How would Muhammed respond to the Danish cartoons?
For the past several years the slogan “What would Jesus do?” has been so popular with Christians that it became a cliche rather quickly — so much so that un-Christian support by Christians for the slaughter of innocents in war has resulted in darkly humorous mockery of their hypocrisy as: “Who would Jesus bomb?”
Even so, one doesn’t have to be a Christian to notice that the sentiment of the slogan is largely commendable, if acted upon sincerely. Similarly, one doesn’t have to be a Muslim to notice the commendable rationality and compassion in the mellower Islamic responses to the Danish cartoon controversy, which don’t get as much media attention as riots and demonstrations. For example, you might read “Wondering how the Prophet might have responded to the cartoons..” by Amman, Jordan based consultant Ahmad Humeid.
