UPDATED: Notes on agorism, 4GW and Somalia

The most fundamental task of agorist revolutionaries is to bring a libertarian consciousness to the counter-economy. Interestingly, John Robb continues to discuss why counter-economics tends to undermine states all by itself, even in isolated unawareness of agorist revolutionary theory.

On my wish list is Robb’s book Brave New War:

In Brave New War, the controversial terrorism expert John Robb argues that the shift from state-against-state conflicts to wars against small, ad hoc bands of like-minded insurgents will lead to a world with as many tiny armies as there are causes to fight for. Our new enemies are looking for gaps in vital systems where a small, cheap action—blowing up an oil pipeline or knocking out a power grid—will generate a huge return.

It might be said that Robb’s work, judging by his blog, indirectly shows why the great crossroads between diverging social alternatives in the 21st century may turn out not to be anarchism vs. statism, but anarchism vs. complete chaos — but then, I would basically be repeating myself.

Do not miss the New York Times article that sparked Robb’s post linked above: In Somalia, Those Who Feed Off Anarchy Fuel It. The misery of the Somali situation is not a result of lack of government (they have one!) but, instead, a result of incipient non-state systems of law and security being obstructed in their emergence by the pro-government interference of other African states and the imperialist US government.
