Sigh. I understand that it’s encouraging to have a strong anti-war speaker for the Democratic debates, but it still speaks to the pitiful nature of American populism. His position on the warfare state directly contradicts his position on the welfare state, the two are colloquial and can not be separated. All this will serve to do is further confuse people that pay attention to these things - which is encouragingly shrinking - and make them believe you can separate two issues that are joined by the hip.
