UPDATED: If only it were true…
John McCain: “We lost our way. We began to value principle over power.”
Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
UPDATE: A correspondent writes:
It IS a fuck-up right? The L.A. Times re-cap (being re-run in a lot of other Dailies) has the quote in the THRID Paragraph, with NO MENTION that it’s a fuck-up!(??) It’s an odd thing to print at the top of the story without a few words making clear whether or not he’d screwed up his old catch-phrase.
YOU’RE THE ONLY ONE ON THE WEB WHO’S CAUGHT THIS.
Read the LA Times story here. The pertinent third paragraph, excerpted:
Share This“On the issue of why we lost the election in 2006, it’s because we did lose our way,” said Sen. John McCain of Arizona. “We began to value principle over power, and spending got out of control.”

Amazing quote! Where did you find it?
Hi Per. The quote is from the Thursday, May 3rd Republican presidential candidate debates. McCain clearly misspoke, obviously intending to say “…power over principle”. It’s thus funny on many levels.
