Obama is the Republican candidate

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

I’ve said elsewhere before that possibly the most irritating thing about Republican attacks on Obama is that they’ve spent 8 years putting him in the oval office. They’ve been way over the line by even the standards of mainstream politics for a long time — and they know it. While they were all cheerleading this torture stuff and agreeing among themselves how cool it would be if they eavesdropped on every single phone call, email and IM on a global basis — did they not imagine a Democratic landslide might result? Let’s face it — Obama is the Republican candidate.

Now it turns out that former Bush spokesman Scott McClellan agrees with me, in a roundabout way. This article discusses his backing of Obama’s campaign and in it we find:

“It’s a message that is very similar to the one that Gov. Bush ran on in 2000,” McClellan said in May about Obama’s campaign.

Well, yeah. And how’d that one work out, by the way?

The difference between us is that McClellan probably thought he was saying something ironic.

Is Ashley Todd lying?

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

First a disclaimer… Let’s get one thing straight. I despise both major parties. That’s “despise” as in I’d like to see the 1,000 most influential Republicans and the 1,000 most influential Democrats shipped to the Hague for fair trials on war crime charges — followed by swift public hangings. Heck, I’m not even all that fond of my own former party.

What I’m about to say is not an “Obama supporter” thing because I don’t support Obama. I will confess that a lot of the attacks on Obama have been annoying the hell out of me lately, but only because I recognize the hypocrisy behind them and resent their shallowness crowding out substantive criticism of Obama (which I’d love to see more of). Hearing GOP idiots speak with dread of “socialism” after 8 years of their blood-drenched, mass-murdering “national socialism” galls me to no end, though.

I’ve even come to believe that there’s almost no such thing as an innocent Republican, much like there was no such thing as an innocent Democrat by the end of the Clinton administration. They are all accomplices to Bush’s crimes, with the exception of those who denounced them. Republicans are already crying crocodile tears for “free speech” and denouncing liberal “intolerance” because the majority of this country may not agree on much but has come to a near consensus that the GOP is full of shit, at least.

And they feel un-loved.

Punks.

So, anyway, folks have been getting all spastic and such over this story:

Pittsburgh police are investigating after a volunteer for the Republican campaign says she was attacked by a mugger who became enraged after seeing a John McCain bumper sticker on her car last night.

Mark my words. I believe Ashley Todd will eventually be shown to be a liar and that she put the wound on her face herself. I am absolutely convinced of this, after having seen photos of her wound. Why am I so sure of this? Because although I would never do such a thing myself, I can tell you that if I was ever driven by such an excess of political hatred (which I have a passing familiarity with) as to violently carve someone’s face up with a knife, it would be much messier. The photo looks like she did it herself in a mirror with an X-acto knife after numbing her cheek with ice — like giggling schoolgirls piercing each others ears at a damned slumber party. It is my opinion that Ashley Todd is lying her ass off.

UPDATE: Holy shit! I agree with Malkin!

UPDATE 2: On Oct 24 @ 1:39 pm US/Eastern this story about Ashley confessing to the hoax was published.

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

Wally Conger recently republished the text of a classic Movement of the Libertarian Left (MLL) pamphlet “Our Enemy, The Party” that advocates the agorist non-electoral / anti-voting approach. Keith took my suggestion and turned it into a nice PDF in tri-fold brochure format.

Download the pamphlet PDF file for “Our Enemy, The Party“.
